Some three years ago the Air Force, Army, Police and Rhodesian Association of South Africa/Flame Lily Foundation joined forces to combine their activities in Durban to ensure that Rhodesians-Zimbabweans continue to meet each other socially to preserve our friendships and meet new people.

In looking for a central location we discovered that the German Club was looking for new members and were invited to join. The Club was renamed the “ German/Shamwari Club” with the Shamwari Club having its own membership. The Shamwari Club is run by a committee as a business and we rent the premises and run the food, beverage and entertainment side of the Club. In addition to the social side the intention is for any profits made to be donated to the Shamwari Trust.

The Club comprises of two bars, a dining area, a hall area and lovely garden. The Club operates from Tuesday to Sunday and provides excellent meals at good prices. The Shamwari Arms has a Rhodesian-Zimbabwean flavour and is well worth a visit. On Friday evenings we have live music with a dinner dance and our Sunday lunch comprises of excellent buffet and our specialities are eisbein, good steaks, prawns and sadza. We also cater for weddings, birthday parties and conferences.
